I'm not a girly girl

**If you are interested in guest posting next week on here, email me at laurenkloeffel@gmail.com**

I've come to the realization that I'm really not FULLY a "girly girl".

I don't watch a lot of girly TV shows like Grey's Anatomy, Army Wives, Desperate Housewives, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, etc.
These three are the only exception to my "girly" tv shows:

Jane By Design (for those who didn't know)

I mostly watch shows like Duck Dynasty, The Walking Dead (FAVVV!), Sons of Anarchy, House (*tear*), Moonshiners, The Hatfields & McCoys.

Other things that make me a not-so-girly-woman/lady/whatevs:

I could live in tank tops/tshirts and jeans. Literally. Like these outfits are "ME":

I don't have the latest fashions, so I don't do the 'Outfit of the Day' posts.

My nails are rarely painted; only on special occasions. And you will NEVER see me pay for acrylic nails. Gross. But my toenails are always a nice shade of pink or red:)

I own two purses. TWO.

I choose not to wear heels unless they are magic heels and won't hurt my feet. I haven't found any yet.

I don't take 2 hours to get ready. Unless, of course, it's a special occasion and I want to do something francyfoo with my hair.

I could care LESS about real jewelry. Your bling bling don't impress me! :) I would rather have cute vintage stuff. Plastic. Copper. Ya know, cheap. I'm the worst at keeping up with stuff anyways, so it would just be a waste of money for me to lose it...

I like tattoos. Actually, I love tattoos. I love looking at other people's tattoos and I love my tattoos.
And I always have.

BUT.......
like all girls, I am insecure, I love sloppy romantic movies, and chocolate makes everything better for me.

Weekend Recap {a little late}

I usually like to post my weekend recaps on Monday....or possibly Tuesday. But this week has had me off whack more than usual, so I will be posting our weekend adventures on Wednesday:)

{I'm also thinking about doing this as a link-up. We'll see. I did make a cute button though!}

I've had Emily Griffin's books on my to-read list for awhile. And you can't beat a $2.50 book! I picked up this perfectly conditioned Nancy Drew book, too. I've started a stash of books for the kids for when they get a little older. I remember reading Nancy Drew books! Oh, the memories:)

I told ya'll my kids were weird.

But I wouldn't change a thing:) It make life, umm, interesting!

I started reading Water for Elephants last week and I'm ony 15% done with it :/ I've been slacking on my reading. Shame on me!! But I'm determined to finish it this weekend. I've got a ton more books to that just keep piling up that I want to read next.

I found this really awesome app for my iPhone. It's called Red Stamp. You can make invites, cards, whatever. I think it's really cute! I made this one for my lock screen on my phone:

We went swimming yesterday and had a blast. I think my kids were fish in past lives. And this Momma enjoyed relaxing in the sun, working on my MUCH NEEDED tan.

[4]

We had family movie night last night! It was a first for us and I'm hoping we start a new tradition! We rented Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked for the family movie, and Thor for me and the hubbers. I also made these pizza balls and my MIL brought Rotel dip. Yum!
Your welcome.

The hubbs was off all this week. He took a stay-cation lol. It was nice having him home, although my "routine" is kind of out of whack. Oh well, a little change never hurt anyone ;)

Thankful Thursday

thankful thankful thankful
I am thankful for my husband. I am thankful for all that he does for his family.

I am thankful for my family. They have always stood behind me.

I am thankful for my beautiful, healthy, smart children. They brighten my day.

I am thankful for our house. Even though it's not picture perfect, it's our home. And I know it's not forever.

I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to go back to school. I know this is what I am supposed to be doing and I know it will pay off in the future.

I'm thankful for the food in our cabinets, water in our sink, and the laundry in the washer.

I am thankful for my best friend, Raven. I truly love her and think very highly of her. She is always there for me and I know I can always be myself around her:)

I am thankful for each day I get to wake up.

And even though I need to work on a few aspects of my life, I am thankful for the life that has been given to me.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was filled with lots of fun.

First off, Friday, I made my all time favorite cookie that I have been trying to make for 5 years.
[Hey! It takes a precise method!]
CHOCOLATE NO BAKE COOKIES!!
That night, we all went to the local minor league ballpark to watch the Jackson Generals play. The kids loved watching the little races they do in between innings and dancing to the music.

And Tucker got him a ball!!

Look at all this sass....

We're still working on sitting like a lady with dresses on. LOL!

Eating peanuts with Daddy<3

There was a fireworks show too but I didn't get any pictures of it :(

Saturday, Doug buzzed Tucker man's head!!

He looks like a little man! No more babies here :(

Saturday night was Doug's softball game and then our besties came over. My BFFFFF helped me clean out my junk closet. Now THAT'S a best friend LOL!

Now I'm just hoping today is good to me! Oh, Monday. Without coffee, I would just ram my head against the wall.

My first blogged book review!

Yayyy!
I finally finished my book the other day, but we have all been sick with the stomach flu:( We are all better now, thank goodness! It was awful. I thought I had the plague.

Anyways! On to my first blogged book review!

The Five People You Meet in Heaven

From the author of the phenomenal #1 New York Times bestseller Tuesdays with Morrie, a novel that explores the unexpected connections of our lives, and the idea that heaven is more than a place; it's an answer.

Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination. It's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers. One by one, from childhood to soldier to old age, Eddie's five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his "meaningless" life, and revealing the haunting secret behind the eternal question: "Why was I here?"

What I loved most about this book: I have this strange, magical love for carnivals, fairs, amusement parks, and circuses. So being that this book revolves around an amusement park in which the main character spent his entire life, I automatically fell in love. I could picture everything perfectly in my head. Albom describes places and characters so vividly, you can almost smell the ocean water from the pier.

Is this book religious? One might think this is a story that will make you change your beliefs or whatever because of the word "heaven" in the title. But it's not religious at all. In fact, another reason I love this book is because of how it describes heaven; it's different for everyone:)

How I felt after reading this book: Unlike Mockingjay, which left me in a depressed state of mind for about a week LOL, I ended this book very happy; with even a smile on my face! There were some parts of the book that take your breathe away or bring a tear to your eye, but in the end, everything makes sense and all is right.

The Five People You Meet In Heaven receives 5 coffee mugs from me. I would recommend this book to anyone!

ps- If anyone has any pointers or suggestions on how to make my reviews a bit more, er, enjoyable, please feel free to comment or email me!! :) I promise, no hard feelings! LOL!

Reviewing?

I'm thinking about starting to do book and movie reviews! After looking through some amazing book blogs, I decided it would be fun to do! Although I am not as avid a reader as most, I do LOVE to read! And watch movies! So, what do ya think?

I think I'm gonna make this happen. Along with a new style lol. I'm so wishy-washy when it comes to the look of my blog!

A couple of thoughts

Just rambling. Because I feel that my poor blog is neglected because I haven't had any bloggy thoughts lately.
Oh, I've had PLENTY of thoughts, just not some that need to be made public. Yet.

On that note:
I need a journal. A clean, blank, beautiful journal to keep all my thoughts inside.

I need a new blog design but I'm too broke lazy to re-do it :/

I'm currently reading The Five People You Meet In Heaven. And I like it. I'm halfway done. But I can't seem to find my Kindle at this moment. [Note to self: Don't leave valuable electronics where tiny hands can reach.]

I'm not doing so great on my diet. Maybe it is destiny that I will be fat forever.

Lately, I haven't felt like going to church. I know that sounds awful, but I just don't feel like I belong. I'm at constant battle with myself of "good and evil"; where "good" was childhood, no worries and "bad" is life now, reality, grey. And then sometimes I want to go to church, but for all the wrong reasons. See how messed up I am? lol

Today I ate 749020 pounds of sushi for lunch. And it. was. awesome.

I made my new twitter background:)

That's enough rambling for today!!

Library Visit

Today, the kids and I ventured to the local library for storytime. For craft time, they made these cute little teapots in honor of The Teapot Festival going on this week!

Kenzie's finished teapot
Turns out, Tucker did NOT want to participate in any sort of craft. He just wanted to get right down to business and check out some books.

And that's fine with me! He loves books. I hope he continues to love them for the rest of his life.

Kenzie is crazy about reading, too. She tried to sneak 18 books into our pile to take home. The limit is 10. :)

I didn't really have anything particular that I wanted, but I got this one:
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
It's on my to-read list so I figured I might as well get it. I'm currently reading Glass by Ellen Hopkins, and I was going to read Identity next, but I need a break from Ms. Hopkins lol. I do love her books (except for Impulse; it wasn't my favorite), but a little variety might do me some good. :)

I also picked up a bag to keep all of our library books in. Eventually, I will get a super cute (or DIY) one, but for now, this will do. AND I helped a really great cause. Go me;)
